Yello, Ye farafara, ye bilika bilika. Dats a greeting in Gurune, the native language of d people of @BOLGATANGA which when translated means Good Morning.

It is a beautiful bright sunny morning in Bolga the capital city of the UER and this our maiden edition of #curate_Bolga for the year 2016.

I welcome u all to this maiden edition of #CurateBolga. I am Frederic Baada Junior and I will be your curator for the next couple of hours.

I am a resident of Bolgatanga and I work at the Bolgatanga Polytechnic as a senior Library Assistant. That's to say I'm a Librarian. #curateBolga

This session not only promises to be interesting but also educative as we are going to be telling you a lot you never knew about UER #CurateBolga

We are also going to break the negative stereotypes and misconceptions often held about the UER in the next couple of hours. #CurateBolga

As u may all know the upper East Region is one of the 10 regions in Ghana and it has Bolgatanga as its administrative capital. #CurateBolga

Contrary to popular misconception dat UER is very far as though the region  is not located within Ghana, Bolga is just North of Tamale.#CurateBolga

It takes an hour and a half to drive from Tamale to  Bolga on its new constructed asphalt road through Walewale. #CurateBolga

One of the interesting places you can visit in Bolga is the famous Paga crocodile pond for those of u who have never been there. #curateBolga

The paga crocodile pond is considered a sacred crocodile sanctuary. Although crocodiles are considered the wild creatures. #CurateBolga

With a little as GHC 5, u could be having a swell time siting at the back of a crocodile without any fear after d sacrifice of a fowl #CurateBolga

That's me having a swell time with the crocodiles. #CurateBolga

If u still find urself within the North-eastern corner of d UER, den u need to visit d paga-Nania slave camp still in paga. #CurateBolga

If you still find yourself within the north-eastern border of Ghana theres are some tourist sites you can still visit. #CurateBolga

They include d mystery dam of kayoro called Kukula and the Nasaga Game Reserves which is 8km away frm Burkina Faso and Paga #CurateBolga

Another place of interest worth visiting in Bolga is the Tongo hills and Tengzug shrine. #CurateBolga

The Tongo hills and Tengzug shrine are located in the village of Tengzug. #CurateBolga

If u find urself in Nalerigu, d ancient defence wall is an interesting site u need to visit and refresh your memory of history #CurateBolga

The ancient defence wall was a local bastion indicating that d slave route passed close by its way from Djeane n Ouagadougou.  #CurateBolga

It is therefore imperative to mention that slave trade does not only have its antecedence in Southern Ghana but also Northern Ghana.  #CurateBolga

The Naa Gbewaa’s shrine is also an interesting place 2 visit. This traditional shrine commemorates Naa Gbewaa @ Purina in d UER #CurateBolga

For those of you who maybe familiar with your history lessons Naa Gbewaa founded the Mole-Dagbon tribe in the 13th century.  #CurateBolga

Som of d main dishes of d ppl of Bolga include T.Z, Rice Balls wit gnut soup or green leaves soups, rice n cowpea, ‘kooko’ with ‘koose’.

After a  meal u can get urself a calabash of chilled ‘zom kom’ or 'pito' both beverages n made frm nutritious millet 4 desert. #CurateBolga

Here is a calabash of pito brewed from wholesome millet smiling @ u wit all its glory 😂😎 #CurateBolga
